How can i make my screen resolution 1024x768 on a windows xp netbook?

i have a sylvania laptop that has a mobile intel 945 express chipset family. i need to make it a higher resolution than 1024x600 so i can play my old games. i had windows 7 and use the registry edit trick but i needed winxp back so i can use more of my programs, ive already tried xpquickres and nrc. i also tried downloading an old driver from a website that it said i should do but it brought it back down to 800x600
